Lynn at Branding; 3″ x 5″; walnut ink and sumi ink on paper; 2008. This is from a series of watercolors I am doing from old family photographs. I found this photo of our family friend Lynn Lindell helping at branding time. I also found a photo of her and my mom holding down a calf together. What I love most about this series is these women’s calm and serene expressions in the midst of a rough day of branding. I’m sure the calves appreciated their presence.
